Fund for political education
The two funds can be used to support political and intercultural education measures and projects. These should strengthen democratic action and serve to recognize and understand the heterogeneity of people in terms of ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender, religion, lifestyle and social status.
The measures and projects should include the following objective(s):
- Acquisition of cognitive skills as well as action skills, i.e.:
- Imparting knowledge about the history of our society as a democratic, political system
- Developing the ability to assess political and social problems of the time
- Sensitization for an open, tolerant approach to heterogeneity through information and reflection
- Opportunities for political participation and the application of acquired skills, i.e:
- Promoting the willingness to become politically involved
- Encouraging active political participation in shaping public life
- Offering opportunities for reflection and self-awareness of political forms of participation
The measures and projects should be aimed at residents of the city of Jena. Associations and individuals, preferably from Jena, whose activities are in the city's interest are eligible to apply. Each project must have an appropriate own contribution. Project funding must be applied for at least six weeks before the start of the project and the statement of account, including a factual report, must be submitted no later than six weeks after the end of the project.
The "Political Education for Adults" fund is administered by the Office for Migration and Integration. This is also where applicants receive specialist advice. The application itself is submitted via the City of Jena's funding portal. After a professional and factual recommendation of an application, the cultural committee decides on the allocation of funding.
The "Political education for children and young people" fund is administered by the Youth and Education Department. Applicants are also given specialist advice here. The application itself is submitted via the City of Jena's funding portal. A project for children and young people can be funded with a maximum of 3,000 euros. After a professional and factual recommendation of an application, the Youth Work / Youth Social Work Subcommittee decides on the allocation of funding.
Local Partnership for Democracy Jena
Partnerships for Democracy are financed by federal and state funds and are local alliances. The people responsible for these alliances come from local politics and administration as well as active civil society (e.g. clubs, associations, churches, civic activists). In Jena, the Local Partnership for Democracy (PfD) is linked to the Democratic Youth Ring and works closely with the Jena Youth Parliament. The PfD advises on project ideas on the topics of participation and socio-culture for young people and provides support with implementation and funding. Funding can be obtained from various funds.
Thuringian state program Denk Bunt
The Thuringian State Program for Democracy, Tolerance and Open-mindedness bundles projects, events and training courses on these topics from all over Thuringia. In addition, applications can be submitted for funding for measures and projects within the framework of the program.
