what is discrimination?

Discrimination means that people are discriminated against because of

  • racist attributions,
  • their religion or ideology,
  • their language
  • their age,
  • a physical, mental or psychological impairment,
  • their gender or
  • their sexual identity

are disadvantaged, harassed or marginalized.

Discrimination on the basis of one or even several of these characteristics is prohibited and yet occurs in all areas of life: at work, when shopping, at the disco, when looking for accommodation, when going to the authorities or on public transport.
